Experience the Benefits of Overdentures
If you’re suffering from missing or damaged teeth, our team at Oelwein & West Union Dental Associates can help restore your smile. We offer multiple implant solutions such as overdentures to replace missing teeth. These restorations are secured to your jaw by dental implants but are also removable for your convenience.
Overdentures will provide you with the following benefits:
- Improved confidence– They’ll complete your smile and make you want to share with others
- Total functionality– Missing teeth and even dentures can alter the way you eat and speak, but overdentures will help you complete these tasks freely.
- Better oral health– They’ll protect your gums from bacteria and infection.

How Do Overdentures Work?
Traditional dentures are attached directly to your gums with a special adhesive, but they often become loose and may even fall out. Overdentures are an affordable option to replace missing teeth. They’re secured to your jaw by dental implants to ensure they stay in place.
These restorations are made of durable materials and can last you a lifetime if taken care of properly. Implant fixtures are placed in your jawbone to provide support and a natural-looking prosthetic is attached to it. Overdentures are used to replace some or all of your teeth.
The Overdenture Placement Process
Are you considering overdentures to complete your smile? If so, the first step of the process is meeting with Dr. Adam Kruger for your initial consultation. He’ll ask you about your smile goals and explain why overdentures might be a good choice for you.
During your appointment, he’ll use a CBCT scanner to take accurate 3D images of your entire jaw. These will help him determine how many implants you’ll need, where to place them, and what your prosthetic will look like.
The entire overdenture placement process takes two separate procedures, and you’ll be provided with an anesthetic or sedation to ensure you don’t feel any pain.
The first procedure is used to place the dental implant fixtures. The number of implants that are placed in your jaw depends on your jawbone density, and Dr. Adam Kruger can provide you with supplemental procedures if necessary.
After your gums heal around the implants, you’ll come back to our office to have your overdentures placed. They’ll be attached using either one thin metal bar, or multiple attachment pieces. Follow our post-operative care guide to learn how to properly care for your new smile.

Am I a Candidate for Overdentures?
Are you ready to start your journey to a new smile? The best way to know if you’re a good candidate for overdentures is by talking to Dr. Adam Kruger. If you’re missing one or more teeth, or are unhappy with your current dentures, this restoration may be a great solution for you.
They’re perfect for people who want to maintain or create new relationships by boosting their confidence. Missing teeth can leave your gums vulnerable to infection, so overdentures will protect your gums and improve your oral health. When your mouth is healthy, you’re also at a lower risk for heart disease or diabetes.
