Dr. Adam Kruger is originally from Oelwein and graduated from Oelwein High School. Dr. Adam attended the University of Northern Iowa where he earned his BA in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. He then continued his education at the University of Iowa College of Dentistry where he received his Doctorate in Dental Science. While at the College of Dentistry, Dr. Adam earned the Keith E. Thayer Fixed Prosthodontics Award, the Dr. Ronald Lofgren Scholarship and the Delta Dental of Iowa Foundation Treatment Planning and Documentation Award. In June of 2012, Adam moved back to Oelwein and joined Oelwein Dental Associates.
Dr. Adam is a general dentist who focuses on overall oral health and preventative dentistry for families. He is dedicated to attending continuing education courses and staying up-to-date on the technology curve so that you and your family receive quality, comprehensive dentistry. He enjoys treating and educating patients with the aid of technology, like intraoral cameras. Dr. Adam is married, has one child and a dog. He enjoys spending time with his family, playing softball, golfing, being outdoors and Hawkeye sports.
Dr. Alan Kruger
After growing up on a farm in northwest Iowa, Dr. Al attended Iowa State University and graduated with a degree in mathematics. He spent 3 years teaching, coaching, and working on a Master’s degree before going back to the University of Iowa to attend dental school. Upon graduation, he moved to Oelwein and has practiced in Oelwein since 1979. He prides himself on staying up-to-date on technology and sharing that knowledge with staff and patients. “I am proud to be a part of the greatest profession in the world.” In his spare time, Al spends time planting trees and improving timber. He also golfs, fishes, and hunts whitetail deer and turkeys.

Karen started working with Dr. Al as a Certified Dental Assistant in 1989. She went on to obtain her degree in Dental Hygiene from Hawkeye Community College and UNI in 1994. Karen is licensed to administer local anesthesia, certified in the administration of nitrous oxide and oxygen sedation, certified in laser therapy and a member of National and Iowa American Dental Hygiene Association. Karen and her husband, Pat, have two children and enjoy spending time at the river and attending their children’s activities.
Kristi graduated from Kirkwood Community College in 1981 as a Certified Dental Assistant and is cross-trained in administrative duties. Kristi has over 20 years of experience in dentistry. She is committed to patient care and education in our practice. Kristi makes sure to treat patients with the same compassion and care as she would want for herself. In her free time, Kristi and her husband enjoy boating, fishing and entertaining their family and friends.
Tanya attended the University of South Dakota, majoring in Dental Hygiene with a minor in Biology. She is licensed to administer local anesthesia, certified in the administration of nitrous oxide and oxygen sedation and laser therapy. Tanya is a member of the National and Iowa Dental Hygiene Association. She has 15 years of experience as a Dental Hygienist and has been employed at Oelwein Dental Associates for the past 12 years. Tanya and her husband reside in Readlyn. They have two boys and enjoy camping, fishing and cheering for the Hawkeyes.
Jean is a Registered Dental Assistant. She is a graduate of the Dental Assistant program at Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids. Jean has over 30 years of experience as a dental assistant and the last 19 years she has been with Oelwein Dental Associates. Jean’s primary duty here is assisting our three Dental Hygienists and she is also in charge of the Whitening for Life program. Jean and her husband have farmed for 38 years in the Oelwein area. They have four children and eight grandchildren.
Julie graduated from Hawkeye Community College in the Dental Assisting program and began working for Dr. Al over 30 years ago. She is now at the front desk scheduling appointments, helping patients with insurance questions and financial arrangements. Julie says it has really been fun watching patients who came in 30 years ago as young children now bringing their own young children here for dental care. In her spare time, she enjoys activities with her family, spending time with her two young grandsons and camping with her husband, Rick.
Mary grew up in Sumner, Iowa. She is a graduate of Hawkeye Community College with an Associate’s degree in Dental Hygiene and a Bachelors of Art degree at UNI. Mary has 33 years of experience in the dental field. She has been with Oelwein Dental Associates for the past 18 years. Mary is certified in the administration of Nitrous Oxide and Oxygen sedation, local anesthetic, and dental lasers. In her free time, Mary enjoys reading, sewing, traveling and spending time with family.
Jennifer is an expanded function Certified Dental Assistant, she is a graduate of Oelwein High School and attended Hawkeye Community College Dental Assisting program. Jennifer has 23 years of experience as a Dental Assistant and has been with Oelwein Dental Associates for the past 14 years. Jennifer and her husband Greg have three children and enjoy fishing and traveling around for their children’s sporting events.
Jessi graduated from Hawkeye Community College in the Dental Assisting program in 1999, and has 14 years of experience as a dental assistant. Jessi has been working at Oelwein Dental Associates for about 1 year. Some of her primary duties include working chairside with Dr. Al and Dr. Adam, making CEREC crowns, and emphasizing patient education and comfort. Jessi and her husband have 2 children.
